"I think that the trade of objects is often mysterious; sometimes I look at objects as the pottery material laid out in museums, a material that freezes a world that perhaps only asks to be used and then destroyed." Aldo Rossi's words reveal his initial distrust of industrial production, but the Alessi approach intrigued him greatly. He launched into lengthy studies of coffee and tea objects, which over time became something of an obsession. Cones, a constant presence in so many of his architectural designs, eventually materialized into objects to be touched and used.
