ALESSI DONATES 40,000 PROTECTIVE MASKS TO LOCAL HOSPITALS

At the warehouses of the historical Alessi company in Omegna, about 40,000 protective masks were delivered today for the hospitals of Omegna, Verbania and Domodossola.

‘I would like to thank, on behalf of myself and all the operators, the Alessi company for the attention they have given us with this donation’ says Angelo Penna, General Manager of the A.S.L. VCO. More than 1,500 protective masks are used every day in V.C.O. hospitals, in addition to the needs for doctors and health professionals in the area and the Prevention Department’.

‘Alessi’s donation – continues the General Manager – is even more important not only to guarantee the safety of the operators but also because in this moment of emergency it is difficult to supply personal protective equipment.’

The Company has also made available its own channels and expertise to ensure the supply of protective equipment to hospitals and institutions of the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola.

‘In such a difficult time for our community we couldn’t fail to have the Company’s support to the work of so many people who are daily, in the emergency, on the front line.

In almost a hundred years our bond with the territory has been a constant. Although the moment is very delicate for everyone, the commitment is, as always, to give our contribution and stay close to those who are most in difficulty, providing not only economic resources but also the time, energy and skills of our people – says Alberto Alessi, President of Alessi S.p.A.

To protect its employees, Alessi took all the appropriate measures at the Omegna Head Quarters already at the end of February and, in order to reduce office attendance as much as possible, it encouraged smart working by purchasing new PCs. Stores also closed in Italy and in most countries, although the relationship with customers is maintained and strengthened through customer service activities that, from 13th till April 30th, will allocate 10% of online purchases (alessi.com) to support the Italian Civil Protection commitment.

The Company continues to pay attention to the changing world scenario, aware of the enormous difficulties that the situation entails for all workers on a professional, personal and economic level. Also for this reason, insurance cover has been activated for all Alessi employees on Covid-19 risks, which provides for a daily allowance in case of hospitalization and a telematic desk dedicated to listening to people’s possible work, health and social difficulties.

It was the employees, however, who started an internal fundraising campaign in favour of the SiamoVCO fund, set up by the community Foundation in collaboration with A.S.L. VCO.

The Company, as it has always done in the past, is committed to supporting the fundraising, by doubling the donation received.

The Board of Directors and the managers of Alessi who, out of solidarity with their colleagues, have decided to reduce their compensation, remain optimistic about the future of the Company: ‘we will emerge from this situation stronger than before, thanks to the solid relationships with our people and our clients, ready to celebrate our centenary in 2021′ – concludes Alberto Alessi.
